Answers: Initial Inclination

There weren’t as many people with the initials T.T. as I thought there would be. My list is only 11 names long:

Toni Tennille, Twyla Tharp, Tiffany Thornton, Tiny Tim (and he sang “Tiptoe through the Tulips”!), Tom Toles (editorial cartoonist), Travis Tritt, Tanya Tucker, Tommy Tune, Ted Turner, and Tina Turner.

Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Initial Inclination: T.T.

How many famous people can you think of who have the initials T.T.?

I chose this combination because someone named Tiffany Thornton is performing in Thursday’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade with Kermit the Frog. Even though I hadn’t heard of Tiffany until today, if she’s singing with Kermie, I’m sure she’s well known enough to be a valid answer for this puzzle.

I will post my list on Wednesday. Even though I don’t have anyone on it right now, other than Ms. Thornton, I’m guessing I’ll have about 20 by then.

Note: Answers must be real people, not fictional characters. They should also be names that are recognizable by the general population.

Initial Inclination: B.G.

I saw a headline today about Bill Gates… so I’m going with B.G. for today’s initials puzzle.

How many famous people can you think of whose initials are B.G.? Your list may include people living or not, but they may not be fictional characters, and they should be relatively well known.

I will post my list on Wednesday. I’m not sure how many I’ll have, since I only am thinking of two names right now, but I’ll shoot for 12 to 15.

Have fun!

Answers: CC Initials

As promised, here is my list of 21 well-known people who have the initials C.C.:

Cab Calloway, Carlos Castaneda, Coco Chanel, Carol Channing, Charlie Chaplin, Cyd Charisse, Chevy Chase, Caesar Chavez, Chubby Checkers, Connie Chung, Cassius Clay (now Muhammad Ali), Chelsea Clinton, Claudette Colbert, Cris Collinsworth (who replaced John Madden on Sunday Night Football), Christopher Columbus, Calvin Coolidge, Courtney Cox, Cindy Crawford, Christopher Cross, Cameron Crowe, and Christopher Cuomo.

Also, here are three people who don’t have the initials C.C. but you might think they do: Casey Kasem, Carl Kasell (NPR newsman–I always thought it was Castle), and Sheryl Crow.

Cheers!

Initial Inclination: C.C.

To follow last week’s CC phrase challenge, this week’s puzzle involves CC initials.

How many well-known people can you think of whose initials are C.C.? In order to count, your names must be of real people, not fictional characters. Coincidentally, when I brought up the NYTimes homepage this morning, there’s an ad for a TV show about Coco Chanel. There, you now have one answer. How many more can you think of by Wednesday, when I’ll post my list? I expect to have 15 – 20.

Keep smiling!

J.C. Answers

Because this list is so long, there are probably a few obvious names that I’ve missed, but here’s what I’ve got:

32 people whose initials are J.C.: James Cagney, John Calvin, James Cameron, John Candy, Jose Canseco, Jim Carrey, Johnny Carson, Jimmy Carter, James Carville, Johnny Cash, June Carter Cash, Jackie Chan, John Cheever, Julia Child, Jesus Christ, Julie Christie, John Cleese, James Coburn, Johnny Cochran, Joe Cocker, Jackie Collins, Joan Collins, Jimmy Conners, Jackie Cooper, James Fenimore Cooper, Joseph Cotton, Jim Cramer, Joan Crawford, Jim Croce, Jamie Lee Curtis, Joan Cusack, and John Cusack.

Initial Inclination: J.C.

I haven’t seen Julie and Julia yet, but there has been a lot of buzz about it lately, so I’ll choose Julia Child as my starting point for today’s puzzle. J.C., of course, is also the monogram of Jesus Christ (who I count as a historical, not fictional, figure).

Besides those two famous figures, how many other non-fictional people can you think of who have the initials J.C.? I have a feeling there are quite a few, so even though I haven’t started my list, I’ll guess that I will have 25 to 30 names by Wednesday, when I’ll post my answers.

Happy Labor Day!

Initial Inclination: R.R.

The next few weeks, I plan on posting several puzzles that use the same letters as the prompt. I’m starting with an initials challenge: How many famous people can you think of whose initials are R.R.?

Your list may include people who are living or not, but you may not include fictional characters, like Ricky Ricardo.

I have only thought of four names so far. I’ll post my final list on Wednesday.

Happy August.

Initial Inclination: S.S.

Today the hearings began for Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor, whose initials are, indeed, S.S.

How many famous people can you think of whose initials are S.S.? These should be real people who are well known in some way, not friends or family members (unless you’re friends with or related to someone famous), and not fictional characters.

I will post my list on Wednesday. Have a great two days.

Initial Inclination: E.M.

Yesterday ran away from me and I didn’t get to posting a puzzle. So, when I opened up the news window this morning, the first headline I saw was that Ed McMahon passed away. Hence, today’s puzzle (like a sweepstakes prize, delivered to my door. Or not).

How many famous people can you think of whose initials are E.M.? Answers must be real people (not fictional), living or gone, whose names would be widely recognized. I’ll post my list tomorrow evening. I’m guessing the list will be fairly short … perhaps 10 to 15 names.
