Initial Inclination: G. S.

While I was working with G and S last week, I thought of a few famous people who have those initials, so I’ll make that this week’s challenge: How many famous people can you think of whose initials are G. S.? Please use real people (not fictional) who would be familiar to the average American.

I have three names right now, but I hope to have 15 or so by Wednesday or Thursday, when I’ll post my list.

Have a good week!

Initial Inclination: H.K.

I have a framed postcard on my desk with a quotation from Helen Keller: “Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing.” How many famous people can you think of whose initials are H.K.? To count, the names must be of real (not fictional) people. They may be living or not, but they should be recognizable to most Americans.

I will post my final list on Wednesday or Thursday. I expect to have 13 to 18 names.

Have a great week!

Answers: C.W. Initials

C.W. was a tougher set of initials than I thought it would be. Many of the people I thought of didn’t fit (it’s Charlie Rangel, for example), and some of the people I found have not been in the news for a long time. Nonetheless, here are my top 10 answers and a few more obscure names:

Christopher Walken, Clint Walker (actor), Chris Wallace (Fox News host), Charlie Watts (drummer), Chris Webber (former NBA player), Christie Whitman, Cindy Williams, Charlie Wilson, Caroline Wozniacki (Danish tennis player), and Christopher Wren.

The lesser-known names include: Caitlin Wachs (actress), Christine Warren (romance novelist), Cornel Wilde (actor), and Curt Warner (former NFL player).

Initial Inclination: C.W.

I didn’t have any inspiration for today’s puzzle, so I decided to use the initials of the first person who sent me an email this morning: C.W.

How many well-known people can you think of who have the initials C.W.? I have only thought of three so far, but I hope to have 10-15 by the time I post my list on Friday. You may name any famous person, living or not, but please no fictional characters and no friends or family, unless they are someone the average American would have heard of.

Enjoy the rest of the week!

How many well-known people can you think of whose initials are C.F.? In order to count, please use real people (not fictional), who may be living or not, and who would be familiar to the average American.

I have thought of a couple off the top of my head, plus Colin Firth, who won last weekend’s Oscar for best actor. I’ll post my final list on Thursday, and I expect to have 12 to 15 names.

Happy March!

Initial Inclination: M.R.

I’ll use the consonants from last week’s puzzle as this week’s initials. How many well-known people can you think of who have the initials M.R.? In order to count, a person must be real (not fictional), and known to the average American. I have thought of five off the top of my head, and hope to have 15 or more by Thursday, when I’ll post my list.

Happy December Eve!

Answers: P.B.S. plus P.B. people

Filed under: answers, Initial inclination — puzzlebits @ 7:04 pm

Here is my final list of nine phrases that follow the pattern P__  B__  S__:

Peanut butter sandwich, Pearls Before Swine, Percy Bysshe Shelley, phi beta sigma (fraternity), polar bear swim, poor boy sandwich, pork belly spending, powder blue suit, and public broadcasting system.

For this week’s challenge, how many people can you think of who have the initials P.B.? As usual, fictional characters (like Paul Bunyan) don’t count. Answers must be people who are well-known to an average American. I’ll post my list Thursday.

Answers: K.M. Initials

Here are the 15 well-known people I came up with whose initials are K.M.:

Karl Malden, Karl Malone, Karl Marx (wow, three Karls at the beginning of the alphabet…), Kathy Mattea, Ken Mehlman, Katie MacAlister (author), Kevin McCarthy, Kelly McGillis, Kevin McHale (I thought of the basketball player first, but this is also the name of an actor on “Glee.”), Kristy McNichol, Kimmie Meissner (figure skater), Kylie Minogue, Keith Moon, Kate Moss, and Kate Mulgrew.

Some names that I was less familiar with include: Kellie Martin (actress), Kim Mathers (ex-wife of Eminem), Kent McCord (actor), Kel Mitchell (actor), Kate Middleton (girlfriend of Prince William), and Kelly Monaco (model / “Dancing with the Stars” winner).

Initial Inclination: K.M.

I can think of several relatives and friends with the initials K.M., but I haven’t thought of any famous people yet.

Nonetheless, I will be making a list of well-known people whose initials are K.M. and posting them on Wednesday. I expect to find 15 to 20. To be included, each person must be familiar to the general (U.S.) public, and not be a fictional character. How many can you think of?

Have a great week!

Initial Inclination: W.N.

Willie Nelson came through town lately, and I heard of a few other cities where he had concerts this summer. So, in honor of all musical marvels who continue to perform, how many well-known people can you think of whose initials are W.N.?

I have only thought of two so far, but I expect to have around 10 by Thursday, when I’ll post my list.

Enjoy the last few days of September!

P.S. Sorry I missed the smile post last weekend. I was out of town.
