Constant Consonants: MTR

How many non-capitalized words can you think of that contain the letters MTR in that order, and have no other consonants? You may repeat a consonant within the word (i.e. MATTER), but not with a vowel in between. For the full rules, see the link at the upper right.

I’ve found about 12 words so far and expect to have a list of 15 to 20 by Wednesday, when I will post my answers.

This smile is better, I think, than a previous jewelry-made smile that I posted a few months ago.

Necklace III hope you are having a great Memorial Day weekend.

Answers: H.M.

Here’s my list of well-known people who have the initials H.M. Note that my example of Henning Mankell isn’t in my list because he is not familiar, in my opinion, to the average American.

My list of 13 people: Henry Mancini, Howie Mandell, Horace Mann, Harpo Marx, Henri Matisse, Harriet Miers, Herman Melville, Harvey Milk, Hayley Mills, Helen Mirren, Harry Morgan, Henry Morgan, and Harvey Mudd (if the college is named after a real person, as I’m not sure it was).

Note: Hannah Montana doesn’t count as that’s a fictional name. Ho Chi Minh gets half credit, as the name is never known as Ho Minh.

Initial Inclination: H.M.

Sorry to not post yesterday. It was too busy, what with a house guest, touring the middle school for next year, and whatnot. I think it was mostly the whatnot that kept me from getting online.

Anyway, I have been reading a mystery by Henning Mankell, and then I learned last week that Masterpiece Theater is airing a few of his stories, starring Kenneth Branagh. Then, my father in law was staying with us, and he was reading another of Mankell’s books.

So, today’s initials are HM. How many famous people with the initials HM can you think of by Wednesday? I have about eight now, and expect to have 12 to 15 by then.

Good luck!

This smile was on an advertisement outside a large outdoor store.

Constant Consonants: TR

Today’s Constant Consonants letters are TR.

How many words can you think of that contain the consonants T and R in that order and no others? Words must be non-capitalized, and although you may repeat a consonant, (as in TARRY), you may not repeat it with a vowel in between (as in TEETER). For the full rules, see the link at the upper right.

I expect to have between 25 and 30 words when I post my list on Wednesday.
